For the Third Sunday concert on January 17, NOVA’s chamber ensemble, VOCE, will present Pace: To those who work for peace. According to Dr. Frazier, “The concert falls on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend; we felt it would be a wonderful opportunity to perform choral music written in honor of such world leaders as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr.; in memory of the victims of war and violence; and in hope of peaceful resolutions for conflict. Selections include “Graveside,” by Kim Sherman; “Hope for Resolution,” by Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory; “Ubi caritas,” by Maurice Ravel; “Wade in the Water,” arr. Moses Hogan; “Come Sunday,” by Duke Ellington; and many more.”
All concerts in the Third Sunday Concert Series are free and open to the public. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and concerts begin at 5 p.m. lasting one hour. A reception follows where the audience may meet the performers. Christ Church is located at 120 S. New Hampshire Street, Covington, at the entrance to Bogue Falaya Park.
